I got this laptop almost two months ago to replace my HP dv series that had problem after problem and completely failed after only 1.5 years. So far I love it. It is a dependable and reliable computer that is easy to carry around (light, and fits in a normal backpack) but yet is sturdy. It runs smoothly, alhtough it could use more memory – at the moment I am not having troubles with programs, but I can forsee in the next couple of years there will be trouble with memory and speed.

Downsides of course are that there is no DVD/CD drive (which, after researching several different brands, seems to be normal nowadays for anything smaller than a 15 in laptop….), the sound quality, and the fingeprints. This is easily solved by using my old desktop speakers and keeping a soft cloth next to my computer.

The keyboard is fun to type on (although it takes a little bit to get used to) and I haven’t been having any of the troubles with the mousepad that other people hvae been descirbing, although the buttons are rather far to the sides, and it is good to turn it off while typing as the hands hit the mouse pad.

Also good is the battery life and that it runs really cool. I think overheating was one of the main problems of my old laptop and the reason why my equipment kept failing. So far, I’ve only gotten about 7 hours out of the battery (not 9 like advertised), but I’m not complaining. On my old laptop I was lucky to get 45 minutes! I am hoping to get several good years out of this laptop.

Acer AS5738-6969 15.6-Inch Blue Laptop (Windows 7 Home Premium) Customer Review

I’ve had this computer for a couple of days now and it’s great. I recently bought an Acer Revo 3600 and liked it so much, when my laptop died I decided to check out their other products. I bought it when it was 9 and couldn’t find anything close to its specs (which I think speak for themselves) at that price point. It worked right out of the box…no hassles whatsoever. It’s very fast, but then again I’ve been using a 4 year old Dell, and I really like Windows 7. I would have given it 5 stars except for a couple of things that I find a bit annoying, but these are personal preferences. The big thing is that because it has a numeric keypad, the keyboard is shifted awkwardly to the left. The first 2 days I had it, I kept hitting all the wrong buttons, but I’m starting to get used to it. Another is that the right and left click mouse buttons on the touchpad have been combined into a single bar (click on right side for right click, left side for left click). It feels a bit stiff/hard to depress and, because of the aforementioned awkward shift, I frequently hit it too close to the middle which doesn’t accomplish anything. Also, the cover is very shiny and shows every fingerprint, but it’s hard to find a laptop today that doesn’t have this feature. Overall, it’s a great laptop.

13.3-Inch High-Definition Display

This notebook has a 13.3-inch TFT display with a resolution of 1366 x 768 pixels (native 720p for high-definition viewing). It also provides TruBrite technology, which makes images brighter and more vivid thanks to its anti-glare feature. Jump Lists
New in Windows 7, Jump Lists take you right to the documents, pictures, songs, or websites you turn to each day. To open a Jump List, just right-click a program icon on the Windows 7 taskbar. (You’ll also find them on the Start menu.) What you see in a Jump List depends entirely on the program. The Jump List for Internet Explorer 8 shows frequently-viewed websites. Windows Media Player 12 lists commonly-played tunes. Your Jump List missing a favorite? You can “pin” whatever files you like there. Jump Lists don’t just show shortcuts to files.
