The Satellite T135 is engineered to feature the comfort and convenience of a standard laptop yet in an ultra-thin package. It features a full-sized keyboard and full-sized touchpad with multi-touch capabilities, enabling greater flexibility to browse and control what’s happening on-screen with gesture commands–including two-finger pinch, swipe, rotate and scroll. With its integrated Draft-N Wi-Fi networking capabilities, this laptop provides up to five times the performance and twice the wireless range using 802.11n-compatible routers as you would with 802.11g networks. Jump Lists
New in Windows 7, Jump Lists take you right to the documents, pictures, songs, or websites you turn to each day. To open a Jump List, just right-click a program icon on the Windows 7 taskbar. (You’ll also find them on the Start menu.) What you see in a Jump List depends entirely on the program. The Jump List for Internet Explorer 8 shows frequently-viewed websites. Windows Media Player 12 lists commonly-played tunes. Your Jump List missing a favorite? You can “pin” whatever files you like there. Jump Lists don’t just show shortcuts to files. Sometimes they also provide quick access to commands for things like composing new e‑mail messages or playing music.
Improved Windows Taskbar
In Windows 7 you can “pin” favorite programs anywhere on the taskbar for easy access. Not crazy about the icon lineup? Now you can rearrange them any way you like by clicking and dragging. I got this laptop almost two months ago to replace my HP dv series that had problem after problem and completely failed after only 1.5 years. So far I love it. It is a dependable and reliable computer that is easy to carry around (light, and fits in a normal backpack) but yet is sturdy. It runs smoothly, alhtough it could use more memory – at the moment I am not having troubles with programs, but I can forsee in the next couple of years there will be trouble with memory and speed.
Downsides of course are that there is no DVD/CD drive (which, after researching several different brands, seems to be normal nowadays for anything smaller than a 15 in laptop….), the sound quality, and the fingeprints. This is easily solved by using my old desktop speakers and keeping a soft cloth next to my computer.
The keyboard is fun to type on (although it takes a little bit to get used to) and I haven’t been having any of the troubles with the mousepad that other people hvae been descirbing, although the buttons are rather far to the sides, and it is good to turn it off while typing as the hands hit the mouse pad.
Also good is the battery life and that it runs really cool. I think overheating was one of the main problems of my old laptop and the reason why my equipment kept failing. So far, I’ve only gotten about 7 hours out of the battery (not 9 like advertised), but I’m not complaining. On my old laptop I was lucky to get 45 minutes! I am hoping to get several good years out of this laptop.
